Terms and Conditions
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of services provided by Serlot ("Serlot", "we", "us"), including the Serlot website at serlot.com and our mobile applications, including Sepher. By using our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our services.
1. The Serlot website
1.1 Permitted use
You may use the website for lawful, informational purposes. You agree not to misuse the site, attempt to disrupt it, scrape it abusively, or access it through unauthorized means.
1.2 Intellectual property
The Serlot name, logos, product names, website content, and design are owned by Serlot or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them without our prior written permission.
1.3 Contact submissions
When you contact us, you agree to provide accurate information and not to submit unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
1.4 Website disclaimer
The website is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation.
2. The Sepher mobile app
The following terms apply specifically to your use of Sepher. By installing or using Sepher, you agree to them in addition to the general terms above.
2.1 What Sepher does
Sepher lets you scan pages, import documents, and listen to books and other text using AI-powered narration, translation, and cloud sync. Features may vary by subscription tier and platform.
2.2 Private use and public publishing
Sepher supports both private libraries and optional public publishing:
- Private storage is visible only to you when signed in.
- Public publishing is optional. You may publish audio, images, and text publicly only for content you have the rights to publish (e.g., your own handwritten content or copyright-free/public domain materials).
- For copyrighted materials, you may publish only non-infringing metadata such as a title — not the copyrighted text, images, or audio derived from it.
2.3 Ownership and your responsibilities
- You retain ownership of content you upload.
- You represent that you have the legal right to upload, process, and (if applicable) publish your content.
- For printed or typed materials, copyright may apply. You are responsible for ensuring lawful use, including personal-use exceptions where applicable.
- When adding a book, you must accurately indicate whether content is copyright-free or copyrighted.
2.4 Cloud storage and privacy
- If you sign in, Sepher stores data in your private account, including covers, page images, and generated audio.
- We do not publish your private data publicly without your explicit choice to publish eligible, copyright-free content.
- For copyrighted content, only the title may appear publicly if you choose to publish; all media and text remain private.
2.5 AI and third-party processing
Sepher uses third-party services for OCR, translation, and text-to-speech. By using these features, you consent to your content being processed by those services for the purpose of providing the app. We implement reasonable safeguards but cannot guarantee absolute security or perfect accuracy of AI output.
2.6 Subscriptions and payments
- Sepher offers free and paid subscription tiers processed through Google Play Billing.
- Prices, billing cycles, and renewal terms are shown in the app and managed through your Google Play account.
- Refunds are handled according to Google Play policies unless required otherwise by applicable law.
- We may change subscription features, limits, or pricing with reasonable notice where required.
2.7 Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Sepher to infringe intellectual property or other rights.
- Violate applicable laws or harm others.
- Publish copyrighted content publicly without authorization.
- Circumvent technical limits, abuse the service, or interfere with other users.
Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination.
2.8 No warranty
Sepher is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant the accuracy of OCR, translation, or audio synthesis. Features may change or be discontinued at any time.
3. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Serlot and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of our website or apps, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
4. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to our services if you violate these Terms or for operational, legal, or security reasons. You may stop using our services at any time. Upon termination, you must cease use of the affected service.
5. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
6. Governing law
These Terms are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction where Serlot operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence may still apply.
